At Rochells, our bridal and diamond jewellery collections are adorned with Maple Leaf Diamonds.
For decades the 4 C’s (color, cut, clarity and carat weight) have constituted the general guidelines for choosing a diamond. Today, there is a 5th C to consider: country of origin, namely Canada. Maple Leaf Diamonds are sourced directly from the Ekati and Diavik diamond mines, both located in Canada’s north West Territories.
Maple Leaf Diamonds were formed underground over 3 billion years ago in Northern Canada. Today the pristine Canadian North has become symbolic of the purity and beauty of Canadian diamonds which are ranked among the worlds most brilliant and exquisite gems. These natural and untreated gems bear a distinct maple leaf insignia and tracking number that traces the journey of each diamond from a rough crystal to the finished treasure, guaranteeing its Canadian origin – mined in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.
Canada Mark is an origin hallmark issued by BHP Billiton, owner and operator of the Ekati Diamond Mine in Canada’s Northwest Territories. It signifies that the polished diamond is of true Canadian origin and that its production has met strict quality standards of color, clarity, symmetry and finish. Only select Canadian rough crystals are chosen to become CanadaMark diamonds. BHP uses and independently audited system to carefully track each one, from the mine to the finished polished diamond. The diamonds are guaranteed to never have been treated by lasers to lighten or darken inclusions, fracture filled to hide inclusions or treated with HPHT ( high pressure, high temperature) to improve color.
Each CanadMark diamond has a unique tracking number that can be verified online at www.canadamark.com.
