The Early Years: 1982-1999

The story began in 1982. In a small jeweler's shop in modest surroundings in Copenhagen, Denmark, Danish goldsmith Per Enevoldsen and his wife Winnie started what would eventually become Pandora. They often traveled to Thailand in search of jewelry to import. As demand for their products grew, they gradually shifted their focus to wholesale clients in Denmark.

In 1987, after several successful years in wholesale, they discontinued retail activities and moved to larger premises. During this time, the first in-house designer joined the company. This marked the beginning of Pandora's focus on creating unique jewelry. By 1989, Pandora decided to manufacture jewelry in Thailand.

Building an International Presence: 2000-2011

In 2000, Pandora launched its charm bracelet concept in the Danish market. Consumers embraced the idea, and in the following years, the company began expanding internationally. They entered new markets, including the United States in 2003, which is now its largest market, as well as Germany and Australia in 2004.

Pandora's market presence rapidly evolved. They shifted from a Scandinavian platform to an international marketing and sales platform, primarily driven by third-party distributors and robust production capabilities in Thailand.

In 2005, Pandora opened a large-scale crafting facility in Gemopolis, a jewelry industry zone outside Bangkok. Since then, the company has expanded operations further. In 2017, they opened a facility in Lamphun, near Chiang Mai, and in 2018, the Triple A facility was inaugurated in Gemopolis.

In 2008, investment firm Axcel acquired 60% of Pandora. Two years later, in 2010, the company was listed on the NASDAQ OMX Copenhagen Stock Exchange.

Pandora now operates a vertically integrated business model that encompasses in-house design, production, global marketing, and direct distribution in most markets. The brand's products are available in over 100 countries on six continents, reaching more than 6,700 points of sale, including around 2,600 concept stores. Currently, Pandora employs over 33,000 individuals worldwide.
